What can clients expect from your law firm?
First, our clients can expect empathy from everyone at The Clardy Law Firm. Before anything else, we are going to listen. Whether a client has catastrophic injuries or reparable ones, loss of a loved one or questions about getting their car fixed, every client is unique and every case is unique. We will listen to your concerns, answer your questions, and explain the legal process. Second – and this is our overarching philosophy – we follow the Golden Rule – we treat people how we would want to be treated.

What can clients expect from you as a lawyer?
Clients can expect a fierce advocate, but also an empathetic ear. I think part of being an effective counselor at law is to first be a great listener and to consider my client as a whole person, and not just his or her case.

Why is practicing law unique in Greenville and the Upstate?
I cannot imagine practicing anywhere else. I began my career as a practicing lawyer in the Upstate, having moved here from out of state with my wife as she began a judicial clerkship. You will often hear lawyers say that the bar in the Upstate is civil, and there is an expected shared responsibility for maintaining the professionalism of our bar. I saw that firsthand and owe my development as a lawyer to the collegiality of the judges and lawyers I practiced with and against.

What can clients expect from you as a lawyer?
While we can never guarantee clients a particular outcome, we can guarantee our clients honesty, diligence, and prompt communication. When someone is hurt and their life is turned upside down, no amount of money is a fair trade for loss of good health and the stress and difficulties that come along with being injured. Our goal is to make sure that our clients are protected and made whole as best as possible under the circumstances and that we provide them with the guidance and counsel to navigate their difficult situation in the best way possible.

How are you involved in the community?
I am a member of First Baptist Church Greenville where I have served as a deacon and chair of various church committees. I spend most of my spare time at Christ Church Episcopal School sporting events, Gower swim meets and Greenville Little League baseball games. With any remaining spare time, I am an avid outdoorsman and an ardent Clemson Tiger fan.

Why is practicing law unique in Greenville and the Upstate?
Practicing law specifically in the Upstate and Greenville is very unique, and communication is key. We have also seen tremendous growth in the past few years. As a fourth-generation attorney in the Upstate, I am able to help clients navigate the legal system and advocate on their behalf with other attorneys, insurance companies, and in the courtroom.

About voting for Top Lawyers by Greenville TALK® magazine:

• Ballot Distribution: DataJoe sends ballots (both printed and electronic) to all licensed lawyers in the Greenville area, using information from the South Carolina Bar Association.
• Peer Recommendations: Lawyers are asked to recommend their preferred lawyers in various practice areas, essentially indicating who they would refer a client to if they were unable to take the case themselves.
• Voting Guidelines: Lawyers are permitted to vote for themselves, but are asked to also recommend two other lawyers.
• Data Processing and Vetting: The returned ballots are tallied and entered into a database. The lawyers with the most recommendations are then vetted to confirm they are actively practicing and in good standing.
• Final List: The final list represents the lawyers who have been recognized as the most esteemed by their peers in Greenville. 
• No Purchase for Inclusion: Inclusion on the list cannot be bought, as the selection is based purely on the peer voting process.
